When it comes to wedding gift ideas, it can be the simplest or the hardest thing to decide on. Earlier this week our team was treated to a wonderful pressure cooked meal by the chefs and bloggers at Cook With Pressure and we thought, what a wonderful gift that would make!
For those who don’t know, pressure cookers are these air-tight cookers that cook your food under immense pressure. They seem like normal cooking pots except they cook much faster and you end up with condensed flavors. Even the inexperienced cook will be able to make delicious meals in minutes. It’s very popular in Europe and most people probably already have one, but for newly weds, we think this would be a great gift for the new home.
To describe in more detail how pressure cookers work, food is first inserted into the pot. Then liquids, such as broth and wine, are added. The pot is sealed and it’s brought up to high pressure on the stove. (Electric models are plugged in). Then the pressure is lowered and the food continues cooking. After all is done cooking, the pressure gets release and the food is ready to serve. These cookers can make anything – braises, soups, stews, pasta, rice, roasts, ribs, etc. – really flavorful.
This gift is absolutely perfect for newlyweds. Think about this. In the first years of marriage, where they are probably experimenting with cooking meals at home, the pressure cooker can help them become better cooks because it’s really simple to use. You just toss the ingredients in the pot and it will do all the work. It’s healthy. Also, it’s budget-friendly because it uses less energy to cook food. As the family of two grows, the pressure cooker will be a time-saver. When parents have to take care of work and kids, it’s hard to cook a full, nutritious meal every day. So this is where the pressure cooker can help.
The chefs from Cook With Pressure tell us that good pressure cookers typically last decades and can be handed down from generation to generation. One such machine is the Kuhn Rikon Duromatic pressure cooker. They tell us that this pot is the “Mercedes-Benz” of pressure cookers. If you’re looking for that special gift for someone, this is a great choice. It doesn’t feel like a cheap gift and it’s a very thoughtful and useful present.
So what do you think? What have you gotten as a wedding gift and what have you given as a wedding gift? Tell us about what you think would make the perfect gift too.
